Toy Story 5 Trailer Pits Woody and Buzz Versus a Digital Device
It has been 30 anniversary after the first Toy Story film debuted, establishing Pixar as a major animation studio and introducing viewers to beloved characters like the cowboy doll (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now household names.
Coming in 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed recently, offering a brief look into the storyline but keeping fans wondering how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Frightens the Toys
In the teaser shows the young girl — who received the toy collection when he left for college — receiving a latest toy, one that alarms the familiar toy group. She gets her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.
Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the toys seem to view it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it likely will.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
One thing the teaser avoids is what the sheriff is back with his companions in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a new adventure with the shepherdess (Annie Potts), journeying with a carnival and helping prize toys locate loving owners.
Certainly, Pixar will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Seeing him appear in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is a little strange, however. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have come back with him. And what about Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?
Connections from the Last Installment
At the very least, some aspects are carrying over from the earlier movie. The last thing the cowboy did before departing for his new life was pass his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (Joan Cusack), entrusting her in charge of the toy domain. The clip shows the insignia attached to her shirt.
It is hoped she is still the key figure among the toys.
Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on the scheduled date.
